Jaspas in District 2 – is it an outdoor play area for kids or is it a really nice place to hang out and enjoy good food? Yay, it’s both! Jaspas has put some serious thought in the details. The outdoor area is covered so no worries about rain or sun, your little ones are always in sight and the food is yummy. Also, for people who come without kids, the indoor space has a super nice interior. And they do birthday parties too. Good job Jaspas!

A favorite amongst our kids who like climbing the wooden playhouse and playing in the sandpit! For us parents, it’s nice that we can keep an eye on them while having a drink and choosing from a menu that is interesting for adults as well. There is also an area for anyone who didn’t bring any mini-me’s and does not want to be bothered with anyone else’s. Now that we come to think of it, the only real downside at Snap is the toy store at the entrance…

A great place to take your kids from 4 years up. They can order their food (and yours) via the iPad and then help to cook it on the table barbecue. Restless little youngsters can stretch their legs in the front garden. The marinated beef is excellent, as are the hotpots and fried rice. When sitting inside the aircon is often blowing full force so don’t dress for the tropics!

We love this place. The atmosphere is great, they have attentive staff and the menu offers loads of choice… from pizzas to salads and pastas. They have an excellent vegetarian selection as well. While you’re enjoying your freshly squeezed juice and the delicious weekly special, your mini-me can choose from the extensive kids menu and hang out in the kids room.

You can’t go wrong when choosing from the Mediterranean inspired Au Parc menu. Located conveniently around the corner of the Notre Dame, this place is our first choice when we are craving a nice salad with labneh for lunch, or need to refuel after walking the tourist trail with our visitors. And as a bonus, there’s a playroom upstairs with a nanny so you can leave your little one(s) there for a bit while enjoying your lunch. How good is that!

This is a great option when looking for an authentic Vietnamese meal with the family. Quan Bui has several locations. The one on 17a Ngo Van Nam, in D1 is always a hit with visitors (reserve a table at the rooftop), but the venue in D2 has a great play area for kids. Beautifully decorated, the menu offers so many options that it takes a bit of time to choose. If in doubt, the fried rice, pomelo salad and lemon grass skewers never fail.

Situated on the grounds of the Riverside Apartments is a nice restaurant where you can enjoy a beer alongside the river. We wouldn’t call their menu high cuisine, but it has plenty of good choices for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Best thing is that the kids can watch the boats, run around and enjoy the playground nearby. Note that there is a pool next to the restaurant (for residents only), so not a great option if you have small wanderers that can’t yet swim.
