There are many gyms in Saigon. We selected a few that are worth checking out:

Nutrifort has several gyms in Saigon. Aside from offering gym facilities, they provide daily classes like spinning, TRX and yoga. But if you’re really getting serious, check out their personal trainer program.

Maxfit is your place if you live in District 3 and enjoy fitness classes such as Zumba, Jamfit, Fight Fit and Core Fit. They provide standard gym equipment as well as some specialized gear. The staff are great and it’s a good location. Unfortunately their website is in Vietnamese only.

The Saigon Sports Club in District 7 specializes in martial arts for all levels.  The facilities are impressive. Don’t let this intimidate you, boxing is not just for Rocky wannabies anymore. They also do kids classes.

Aqua Biking

In the heart of District 2, François organizes several classes per day. These aqua biking lessons are a combination of cardio and fitness. Be warned, it looks like a walk in the park, but it’s a pretty exhausting sport.

Team & competition sports

Looking for a team sport? There are several initiatives here in Saigon and all of them welcome newcomers. Most of them can be reached via Facebook. We’ve put their contacts below:

Cycling & Running

If you’re into cycling, there are several races to compete in. A really nice race is the Dalat Victory challenge in March every year. For more ideas the guys at the Bike Shop in D2 will know all the other good races worth considering.

For all roadrunners among us, there are plenty of running challenges as well, and we are not talking about the traffic or the stray dogs that may be chasing you here. The HCMC run, Color Me run and the HCMC marathon are just some of many. Check out the Facebook run groups for more info.

Golf

There are several golf courses near Saigon, but Song Be is the most accessible. About 20 km from the city, it’s a nice golf course that offers three 9 hole courses.

If you just want to practise your swing, best to go to Him Lam in District 1. It provides a really nice driving range with a panoramic view. Open from 6 am daily.

Jiva Yoga Studio

Namaste! Suzanne Vian is the captain of the Jiva Studio and she really knows her yoga. Not only does she have 20 years of yoga experience, her relaxed voice immediately sets the perfect yoga atmosphere. The studio offers different types of yoga, from beginners to experienced yogis. The other yoga teachers are just as qualified by the way. Start oozing away ladies.

YogaPod

Family Garden, 28 Thao Dien St., D2

There are several yoga studio’s in Saigon and most are pretty ok. The YogaPod has been opened recently and is situated in the midst of Family Garden. Whether you are a newbie to yoga or can call yourself an experienced yogi, the YogaPod offers lessons for all, kids yoga included. We felt tranquil immediately, doing our downward dog while looking out to the lush green outside. Water, towels and a mat are provided, so nothing can stop you now!
